Pioneering paulownia supply in new Zealand

Towards the end of the 1980's horticultural boom in New Zealand, Paulownia was identified as a potential new tree crop.
​
At this time, Rod Laurence, who was an experienced joiner, engineer and horticulturalist, was on the lookout for new materials and crops that could make a difference to the planet.
​
Rod's first plantings were in 1990, and by 1998, Rod had harvested and milled trees to become the pioneering supplier of paulownia timber in New Zealand.
